About URBACT Cities4CSR
URBACT Cities4CSR is a European program for learning and exchanging experiences, promoting and developing solutions to problems and challenges that arise in urban areas. The project has two main objectives: to establish relationships between the offer of corporate social responsibility actions and the needs of local social institutions and to share and replicate these good practices.
This initiative has the presence of 10 international cities: Milan (Italy), Nantes (France), Bratislava (Slovakia), Sofia (Bulgaria), Budaors (Hungary), Molina de Segura (Spain), Bratsa (Bulgaria), Kekava ( Latvia) and Rijeka (Croatia), Rijeka (Croatia) and Guimarães (Portugal).
URBACT Cities4CSR Guimarães is working on the development of a collaborative technological platform, which will allow the articulation between companies and organizations of social, cultural and sports solidarity. As a final objective, the municipality intends to strengthen the capacity of social support through the improvement of local public policies and the elaboration of a local strategy anchored in the business fabric for the promotion and dynamization of Corporate Social Responsibility actions.
The digital platform will serve to connect those who need assistance and those willing to help. Currently, Guimarães lacks a solid mechanism for the articulation between companies and organizations of social, cultural and sports solidarity.
In an initial phase, the companies that belong to Guimarães Marca and the Social Solidarity Institutions that make up the Local Council for Social Action will be involved. In the second phase of the project (which will run until August 2022) it is intended to involve a greater number of both companies and Solidarity, Cultural and Sports institutions.
So far, working meetings of the Local Action Group (GAL) have been held, in which the Municipality of Guimarães, some companies from the Guimarães Marca community and various institutions of the Guimarães Local Social Action network participate.
